Western New York cabin campground round up

Doing some research for a never-happened, end-of-summer weekend away, I found these campground-situated cabin rentals:

Evergreen Trails, located in Angelica, New York, has 25 cabins for rent with a wide variety of sizes and capacities. Their prices are reasonable, and the spaces look beautiful. They also offer tent sites. Nearby attractions include the "Grand Canyon of the East" at Letchworth State Park.

Evergreen's "Long House" cabin is pictured in the upper left and sleeps 8 people. It has two sleeping lofts, gas heat, and a stove/oven.

Next up, the Mariposa Ponds Campground in Houghton has two cabins for rent. The six-person unit rents for $68/night and the four-person for $58/night. The campground looks quiet, family-oriented, and has a wi-fi hotspot.

Finally, the Great View Cabins near Salamanca are $69/night and were my top choice for a weekend of writing, reading, and sleeping. I like how the pictures on the website show minimal activity and lots of trees. Another great thing about their cabins: fully loaded. Linens, coffee makers, full kitchen are all included.

Great View Cabins are close to Allegany State Park, and Ellicottville.

Loon Cabin at Wakanda

Found Loon Cabin at this neat Adirondack getaway on Metafilter. From the website: "Loon Cabin is Wakanda's ecologically-friendly gem located just 35 feet from the water on a point overlooking the main part of Rainbow Lake. Kick back, relax on the glider in the screened-in porch, and watch the sun, moon or stars reflected on the water. The opposite shore is New York State owned, undeveloped, and 'Forever Wild;' it is easy to imagine being on the edge of the wilderness."

All the cabins at Wakanda look gorgeous and seem worth exploring. It would be an idyllic setting for a large family reunion or shared vacation.

Loon Cabin is especially exciting to me because it boasts a composting toilet, sleeping loft, and only sleeps a max of four people. I like small buildings and mostly travel in small groups.

Cool amenities/features: kayak and canoe use, multiple cabins for rent, beach with sandy bottom, treehouse, water trampoline.

Located near: Lake Placid and Long Lake, where I have friends/family; Northern Vermont; Montreal (day trip); Saranac Lake where there's great restaurants, shopping and a natural foods store.

Rates: Loon Cabin rents for full weeks in the summer ($1200) with nights/weeks available in the spring and fall ($150-175/$900-1050). For me, it would be a splurge in the summer and reasonable to split with another couple in the spring and fall.
